WEISBRODT: Wilmot Wimp Jacob Weisbrodt, 1932 2010. After a lengthy stay at the Swan River Valley Lodge, surrounded by his family Mr. Wilmot (Wimp) Weisbrodt peacefully passed away on May 29,2010 at the age of 77 years. Wimp was born on September 1, 1932 in Grenfell, Saskatchewan. He married Simone Perrault on June 22, 1957. They had five children; Mark, Debbie, Bonnie, Colleen and Lana. He was a gentle, soft-spoken man who loved cattle, hockey, bowling, baseball, billiards, dancing and playing cards. He had many jobs over the years to support his family. He started off as a farmer, worked in cement production, was a carpenter by trade, worked as a millwright in the north for many years and was best known for establishing the Gateway Valley Inn in Benito, Manitoba when they moved to the valley 33 years ago. They later moved to the farm, where he once again lived his dream as a cattle owner until he became ill. He then moved into Benito where he resided until his placement in the Benito Health Centre Personal Care Home. Wimp was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Elizabeth (Ring) Weisbrodt, his son Mark Joseph and sisters Katie and Freda.He leaves to mourn his wife Simone, daughters Debbie (Vern) Love, Bonnie (Dale) Bielik, Colleen and fiancé Rod Randall, Lana (Trent) Graham and daughter-in-law Wendy Weisbrodt. Also surviving are grandchildren Jeff and Natalie Love, Christina and Jess Hogarth, Mandy, Mellisa, Sarah and Natessa Weisbrodt, Caleb and Cashala Ladouceur and Maliya and Nevaeh Graham, great grandchildren Tyler, Gavin and Kaden Love and Glenn and Dustin Hogarth, brother Henry Weisbrodt, sisters Irene DiTomaso and Hattie Baker, numerous nieces and nephews and many other loved ones he included into his family over the years. Evening prayers were held from the St. Columba Roman Catholic Church in Swan River, Manitoba on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services were held from the St. Columba Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Leo Fernandes officiating. Wimp was laid to rest in the family plot with son Mark at the Durban Cemetery, Durban, Manitoba. The urnbearers were Amanda Weisbrodt, Mellisa Weisbrodt, Sarah Weisbrodt, Natessa Weisbrodt, Christina Love and Caleb Ladouceur. Everyone in attendance at the service were considered honorary pallbearers. Should friends so desire, donations in Wimps memory may be made to the Swan River Valley Lodge (Activities Department) for kitchen renovations.
