LARSEN: Judith Anna Larsen (née Nielsen). It is with deep sorrow that we announce that our dear mother, wife, grandmother, and sister passed into eternal rest with her family by her side on May 22, 2010 at 4:50 a.m. at the young age of 54 years. Judy was born to the late Jarl and Adele Nielsen on February 23, 1956 in Brandon, Manitoba. Until the age of two she lived in Souris, before moving to a small acreage in Kemnay where she lived a happy childhood. She attended elementary school in Kemnay before moving to Brandon where she attended J. R. Reid School. At the age of 16 years, Judy started her career of 30 years at Fairview Home, where she worked until her daughter Cristina was born. She was a stay at home mom for four years before returning to work at Fairview Home in 1984. After a brief first marriage, she married her first love Phillip Farmer, father of Cristina. In 1989, her second daughter Melissa was born to Jack Larsen, who she lived with until becoming his wife on February 23rd, 2006. Judy lived and loved with all of her heart and was known by her family as a master chef as she frequently cooked feasts for upwards of 30 people. Some hobbies and past-times that she took great joy in were arts and crafts, sewing, camping, fishing, swimming, horseback riding in her youth, dancing, cards, darts, movies, croquet, mini golf, and most of all spending time with family and friends. As the eldest of her nine brothers and sisters, she was like a second mother to them. She loved her three grandchildren and treasured every moment with them. Sam shared her love and talent for art. Before her passing, she was able to spend time with her grandchildren, dancing with Leah and Jessie, and drawing with Sam. She shared many of her favorite recipes with Crissy, and enjoyed every minute she had with her family and friends. A beautiful woman inside and out with an incredible sense of humour, she touched many lives and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Judy was predeceased by her mother and father; Jarl (2001) and Adele Nielsen (1985), and her nephew David (1985). She leaves behind her husband Jack, two daughters Melissa Larsen, and Crissy McGregor née Farmer (Doug), grandchildren, Sam, Jessie, and Leah. Her nine brothers and sisters Wayne Nielsen (Debbie), Andy Nielsen (Kim), Gary Nielsen (Norma), Debbie Leclerc née Nielsen, Donna Coburn née Nielsen, Kelly Nielsen, Sheila Darvill née Nielsen (Derek), Jeff Nielsen, Tim Nielsen (Brenda), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She showed incredible courage and strength through her hospital stay and never missed an opportunity to put a smile on someone’s face. A graveside service was held at the Brandon Cemetery on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Arlene Robertson officiating. Donations in Memory of Judy may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, Box 1943, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 3R2. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com.
