GEORGE: It is with sadness the family of Ilene George announces her passing at Valleyview Care Centre on April 25, 2010, at the age of 66 years. Ilenewas born on March 1, 1944 at Moosomin, Saskatchewan. She grew up with twosisters and two brothers, helping dad on the family farm as she loved animals. She attended school at Cherry Grove District, then McAuley Rutherglen. Ilene worked at the Moosomin Hotel, Perth's, and then forforty-two years at the Army & Navy Veteran Club until retiring in 2006. Ilene made many friends throughout her life being a member for 45 years with the ANAF, and as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for a number of years. She enjoyed shuffle board, slow pitch, camping with her grandkids, and going on drives. Ilene was predeceased by her husband Robert; son Jeffery and father Ernest Cowan. She will be dearly missed by her children Lisa George (Emery) and Derek George; grandkids Nevin McKay and Bailey Smith; mother Doris Cowan; siblings Gerald and June Cowan, Wayne and Mary Cowan, Gladys and Tim Ford, and Gloria Cowan. A graveside ceremony will be held at the Brandon Cemetery, on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood will officiate. Donations in memory of Ilene may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 8 - 940 - Princess Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 0P6.Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
