KRAM: Freda Mary Kram (nee Nicholls) passed away peacefully at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home on Wednesday June 23, 2010 at the age of 95 years. Freda leaves to mourn her passing sons Herb and Bill Kram on the family farm at Wawanesa, daughter Marie Waldron of Winnipeg, sisters Evelyn Rourke and Florence Perks, brothers Fraser Nicholls and Edward (Marion) Nicholls, all of Brandon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1978, sisters Lillian Sherred, Clara Parish, Ethel Taylor and Eva Nicholls and brothers Gordon Nicholls and Lawrence Nicholls. Freda was born on the family farm south of Wawanesa on May 10th, 1915, the third of eleven children. Mom married Joe Kram on August 8, 1945. She remained on the farm until 1997 when she moved to Brandon and lived in Winnipeg House and Hobbs Manor, then back to Wawanesa to the Personal Care Home in 2007. Family, farm and church were near and dear to mom. She loved horses and crocuses, used to milk cows, raise turkeys, and knit mitts. She also enjoyed swimming at Skookum Lake and dancing. Freda was a member of the Wawanesa UCW in the 1960’s and 1970’s, took part in the Treesbank Bible Study Group in the 1980’s and attended New Horizons in Wawanesa in the 1990’s.The funeral service for Freda was held at the Wawanesa United Church on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Carolyn Rushton officiating. Interment followed in the Wawanesa Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennis Friesen, Clark Leachman, John McKay, Eric Moore, Leonard Plett and Elwood Shearer. The Wawanesa UCW served a delicious lunch following the service. Our heartfelt thanks to the Wawanesa Personal Care Home staff for the years of faithful service and care for mom. For those so wishing, donations may be made in Freda’ memory to the Wawanesa Personal Care Home, Wawanesa MB or to the Wawanesa United Church Memorial Fund c/o Marlene Gullett, Wawanesa, Manitoba, R0K 2G0 or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Jamieson’s Funeral Service in Glenboro.
