DUNN: Paul Francis passed away peacefully, at Fairview Personal Care Home, on Thursday July 8, 2010 at the age of 97years.Paul was the youngest child of Nicholas and Margaret Dunn. He grew up on the family farm near Ingersol Ontario, and later, moved to London Ontario to continue his education. Paul worked in Owen Sound prior to joining the military RCEME. In 1943, Paul met Nellie and in 1945, they were married.Paul worked for General Motors from 1945 to 1950. In 1951, Paul came to Brandon, to manage Sharpes Auto Electric. Paul managed Sharpes for 32 years until his retirement at the age of 72. Paul was actively involved in the Brandon community. He was a member of the legion and the UCT. In the 50s he enjoyed singing with the Mens Barbershop Chorus. Paul enjoyed hockey and in the 60s was the president of the Wheat Kings. Paul negotiated the teams entry into the WHA. In the early years of Assiniboine Community College, Paul taught an evening class in Automotive Electrics. Paul was a long time member of Saint Augustines Parish were he filled the position of secretary for the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years. After his retirement in 1985, Paul enjoyed skating, biking, swimming, and golf with his wife and best palNellie. Paul remained active and involved in the community and church until he was well into his 90s. Paul was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Ray, Ford, Joseph and Fredrick, and his sisters Rose, Mary (Sister Audrey), Catherine (Sister Margretta) ,and Margarete. Paul leaves to mourn his loving wife Nellie, his daughters Barbara Bennett (Gord), Liz Burgoyne, and son Bill (Dana); his loving grandchildren: Keely Starr; Mark, Michael, Paul and David Bennett; Shane, Shayleen, Carloyn Burgoyne and Elise Wolski, their spouses, and twelve great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial took place July 12 2010, with Fr. Dominic Yeun as Celebrant. Interment was at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the clergy and parishioners at St. Augustines Church, for their support, and for organizing the service music and lunch. Our heartfelt thanks to the Fairview Personal Care Home staff for the care, encouragement and compassion they offered so generously over the last year. Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, a caring father and grandfather, and a gentleman who touched the lives of so many with generosity, good will, and humour.
