MACAULAY: Gordon Allan. Allan passed away peacefully on July 22, 2010 at Brandon Regional Health Centre surrounded by loved ones. Allan was born in Brandon on June 12, 1948. He lived at home till age six. As Allan had special needs he went to the Manitoba School in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba for a few years. Later as a young adult, he lived at pelican Lake Training Center at Ninette, Manitoba. From there Allan went into foster homes and spent fifteen years in Boissevain, Manitoba. While there he enjoyed attending the Hand crafter workshop and made lots of friends there. Allan always enjoyed spending time with his brother George, especially going for a ride in the truck. He always looked forward to going to Camp Koinonia in the summer and especially enjoyed the campfires. While living in Boissevain, he attended Special Olympics sporting events in snow shoeing, bowling andtrack. One year he proudly brought a medal home from track. Allan lived for fourteen years with Jim and Eileen Arnold and family in Boissevain. Due to failing health he moved to Brandon and lived in a Brandon Support Services home for approximately ten years. Wherever Allan went he endeared himself to others with his bright smile and friendly and warm hugs. He is survived by mother Marjorie, brother George, sister- in-law Tina, nephews: Micheal, Donald and wife Carolee and their children, Amelia and Eli. He is predeceased by father Gordon. Funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The Very Rev. Robin Walker officiated. Pallbearers were Joe Rodrigues, Dennis Stiles, Dwight Edwards, Reg Arnold, Ruth Arnold and Barry Foster.
