DART: On Wednesday September 8th, 2010 Vivian Dart of Edmonton lost her courageous 7 year battle with Alzheimers disease at the age of 91. Vivian was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack Dart; sister, Margaret and brothers, Maurice and Harold Jones. She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Betty Shale) of Winnipeg and Bill (Barbara) of Edmonton and sister, Nolys Waterhouse of North Battleford, Saskatchewan; two wonderful grandchildren, Jonathan and Allison Dart (Brent Atkins) both of Winnipeg and two great grandchildren, Brody and Luke Atkins; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Vivian was born in North Battleford Saskatchewan in 1919 to Otis and Mary Jones and enjoyed an early career in business until moving with the love of her life, Jack to Brandon, Manitoba in 1952 where she raised her family and enjoyed an active life of involvement in her childrens sports, her Lodge, playing Duplicate Bridge, her many friends and contributing to her community. After the passing of her husband in 1982 she returned to her Saskatchewan roots and enjoyed an active life with friends and family in Saskatoon. It was there she achieved her lifelong duplicate bridge goal by earning Life Master status. Her family is very proud of her strength, independence and many accomplishments. Vivian moved to Edmonton during the early stages of her disease and although not able to enjoy much in Edmonton she was fortunate to receive the care and attention of the staff of the Waterford DAL unit, the General Hospital ward 10Y staff and, throughout her final three years, the wonderful staff on ward 12Y. In memory of Vivian donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Alberta, 10531 -Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T5H 4K1. Funds will be directed toward research.
