GUNNARSON: Elster Gunnarson unexpectedly passed away at the Boundary Trails Health Centre in Morden on Thursday, September 30, 2010. Elster was born on April 27, 1935, in the Clanwilliam district, Unorganized Territory. He was the third youngest child of fourteen born to Sven and Ebba Gunnarson. Elster attended Clear Lake School and then went to work at various jobs including pipeline, Agristeel and Riding Mountain National Park. He retired from Parks Canada in 1995, after 25 years of service. Elster married Barbara Palmer on October 5, 1963, in Winnipeg. Together they raised four sons: Gregory (Wayne), Douglas (Linda), Jeffrey (Carolyn) and Jason (Sarah). Also surviving are grandchildren: Scott, Dylan, Cody, Leah, Cole and Kiana. He was predeceased by his parents Sven and Ebba, siblings: Alex, Melford, Ivar, Earl, Eleanor, Vivian, Hazel and Marlon. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Onanole and District Recreation Centre, Onanole with Elgin Hall officiating. A private family interment will follow at the Erickson Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join the family in a time of fellowship and sharing of memories at the Onanole and District Recreation Centre immediately following the interment service. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
