HUNTER (nee Drul): On September 25th, 2010, after a spirited battle with cancer, Gloria Anne Hunter left this world to enter into the kingdom of heaven, peacefully at home. Gloria was born August 3rd, 1955, second child to Nestor and Anne of Elphinstone. She grew up in the farming way of life, and loved everything associated with it. After graduating in 1973, she moved from home to seek work in B.C., then later, Alberta. On June 29th, 1974, she married Jack Hunter, and they resided in Edmonton where, on April 11th, 1976, Jason Brian was born. They then moved back to Elphinstone in March of the following year, and Bradley John was born on May 23rd, 1978. Gloria was very involved in the community. She worked in town, and was part of several committees. In 1987, she accepted Jesus as her Saviour, and soon after was very active at Calvary Gospel Church with their Sunday School. Hundreds of children came through the doors during this 23 year program. Through this ministry, other doors opened, including Family Aide, and later, foster parenting. Glorias love for everyone she helped was genuine, but she never wanted any glory for herself, just to help whoever needed helping. In April of 2006, Gloria received the dreaded news that she had cancer. Days later, her first grandson, Ethan, was born. Parker followed shortly after, in 2007, with Cole arriving in 2008. It was her love of these precious gifts, as well as her unwavering faith, that she stayed with her family for another 4 1/2 years. Gloria is survived by her husband, Jack, sons Jason (Bev), and Brad (Nicole), as well as grandchildren Ethan, Parker, and Cole. She is also survived by her parents, Nestor and Anne, siblings Larry, Ron, Jerry (Melinda), and Darlene, as well as sister-in-law Brenda, brothers-in-law Carman (Joan), Grant, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by mother-in-law Vera and father-in-law Hubert. Raes Funeral Service looked after arrangements, with Pastor Nathaniel Picklyk presiding over the funeral service. Pallbearers were Jeremy Drul, Dustin Drul, Derek Hunter, Chase Hunter, Wilfred Lessey, and Alex Lessey. Interment followed at The Bend Cemetery. If friends so desire, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba and/or Hamiota Community Cancer Program.
