ESPEY: Arthur (Art) James Espey passed away on October 23, 2010 at the Hamiota District Health Centre. Art is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Doreen (Watt). Art, father of Terry, Maureen (Wayne), Karen (Larry), Kim (Tim) and Bruce and grandfather of Diane, Ryan, Mark, Kim, Susan, Dale, Steven, Michael, Matthew and Kaley and great-grandfather of Danton, Connor, Kieran, Talia, Brooklyn, Jordan and Heather will be greatly missed. Art, son of Ralph and Annie was born in Cardale on December 7, 1925. He was one of 7 children; Roy (Lil), Edna, Bessie (Ed), Harvey (Mabel), Allen (Betty) and Gordon (Joyce). Art married Doreen August 27, 1949 in Oakner. They farmed in the Oak River Municipality until they retired to their current residence in Oak River. Art drove the school bus for over 40 years. He also worked as a constable for Oak River, as a mechanic for local businesses, as well as helping neighbours who needed a hand. He was a 4H calf club leader. He enjoyed curling, skating and dancing. He was a member and served as President for several years with the Senior Club. Art had a passion for all animals, especially Toby in recent years. Funeral service was held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oak River United Church with Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiating. Interment followed at the Oak River cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Ryan, Mark, Dale, Steven, Michael and Matthew. All those in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers. Arrangements were with Campbell Funeral Home, Hamiota, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or the charity of your choice.
