MANDRYK: Walter John Jack Mandryk, April 18, 1947 - November 14, 2010. With great sadness Jacks family announces his sudden passing on Sunday, November 14, 2010, at the age of 63. Jack was born to John and Stella Mandryk, April 18, 1947, in Grandview Manitoba, where he was raised on the family farm. Jack married Marg (Vinnell) on June 28, 1968. He moved to Thompson in 1968 to start working at Inco, with Marg following a few months later. He started as a miner, and then proceeded with an electrical apprenticeship through the company. He stayed working with Inco for 19 years. Jack then worked as an Electrical Mines Inspector for the Province of Manitoba, then transferring to Brandon in 1999, working for Work Place, Health and Safety. Jack and Marg lived in Carroll, Manitoba at that time, until he retired in 2006. Deciding to venture west, Jack took employment with the Brazeau County as a Safety Co-coordinator, in Drayton Valley, Alberta, for four years. Throughout the years, Jack was involved with many sports including baseball, hockey, golf, and fishing and especially curling, he was also an avid Yankees fan. Jack was very active in the community, a member of the Elks in Thompson and Souris, as well as the Rotary in Thompson and Drayton Valley. Jack always prided himself in growing the best garden around. His favorite things to do were to spoil his grandchildren, his smoke house, making his wine, tinkering in the garage, and entertaining family and friends. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Marg, children, Steve (Anna), Marnie (Jason), and grandchildren Grady and Madison. His parents, John and Stella Mandryk, brothers Don (Leona), Murray (Shauna), sisters Betty (Phil), Pat (Paul), and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Jim (Holly). A memorial service will be held in Brandon at The Imperial Ballroom, Victoria Inn, Friday, November 26th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
