MAYOR: Lori Mary Louise Mayor (née Hunt). It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Lori Mayor, a wife and mother, daughter and sister, on November 13th, 2010. Lori was born to Marge and the late Alvin Hunt on February 24th, 1960. Raised in Brandon, she schooled at Crocus Plains. As a young woman, she played baseball, and remained a fan of the game ever after. After high school, Lori moved off to Calgary for two years. On a visit home, she connected with Craig Mayor, and thus began a whirlwind romance that lasted for 28 years. Married in 1984, she was mother to Krystal (born January 1986) and Bradley (born December 1989). Initially, Lori and Craig lived in Gladstone, where she worked at the Co-op. A move to Neepawa in 1988 meant a transfer to the Neepawa Co-op. Lori had great people skills and a wicked sense of humour. She also had an extraordinary commitment to her children, demonstrated in her decision to stay home with them until they were both in school, before returning to work. In 1992, Lori was diagnosed with M.S., a progressive and debilitating disease. She lived at home for the next 11 years, with the support of Craig and their children. In December of 2003, her deteriorating health led Lori to the decision to move into the Fairview Home in Brandon. This brought her closer to her mother Marge and sister Brandi. They joined Lori almost every day for coffee. Lori was a bright spark to Craig, and a beacon of light at Fairview. A lot of that light was light-hearted, as Lori loved to laugh and tease. Hers was always the loudest table, with Lori in the thick of things, surrounded by family, co-residents, and various visitors who would be drawn into the orbit of this high-spirited woman. On weekends Craig would often bring Lori home to Neepawa. If she didn't come home, they'd go out to the movies. In July of 2008, their son Bradley was killed in a tragic highway accident. Lori was devastated by their loss. At that time, Lori and Craig decided that their son's ashes would be laid to rest with whichever of them went first. Neither realized how soon this time would come. Her family was called to the ICU in Brandon in the early hours of Saturday November 13th. There, in the arms of her husband and daughter, Lori let go of this life. Predeceased by her father Alvin Hunt in 1971 and son Bradley Mayor in 2008, Lori leaves to grieve her husband Craig Mayor and daughter Krystal, her mother Marjorie Legg, her sister Brandi and brother Brad with wife Karen. Her passing is also mourned by in-laws Norm & Lois Mayor, Craig's siblings Lori, Doss, Karen and Gwen, with their families. She will be missed by the staff and community at the Fairview Home, and by a great many friends in Neepawa, Brandon, and beyond. Whites Funeral Home Neepawa in care of arrangements.
