BEARD: Linda Ann Beard (Murdoch) May 2, 1953 - October 31, 2010. It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Linda on Sunday morning October 31st at the Boissevain Hospital surrounded by family. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 38 years, Lawrence, and her two sons Ken (Amy) and Robert (Candace). She is survived by her grandsons, Rylan and Blake, her mother and father, Marge and Bob Barefoot, brother Bob Murdoch (Jean) and sisters Susan Barchyn (Jim), Judy Barefoot (Paul), and Brenda Whittington (Roger). Linda will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews as well as family and friends from near and far. She was predeceased by her father, William Innes Murdoch. Linda was born in Deloraine and grew up in Whitewater and Boissevain, completing her Grade 12 at Boissevain Collegiate. After graduation, she continued her education at Red River Community College in Winnipeg to become a secretary. She returned to Boissevain to marry her red headed sweetheart Lawrence, and raise their two sons, who meant the world to Lyn. She worked for the Ag Office and then moved on to the RCMP Boissevain detachment. In 2007 she received her 30 year service award from Prince Edward. She also worked for the Town of Boissevain in the same capacity. Besides working, Linda was a very active volunteer in the community, Legion Auxiliary, Tops, fundraising campaigns to name but a few. She loved to watch her sons play hockey as they grew up and rarely missed a game. One of her biggest pleasures was spending time with her family and her grandsons. Family was very important to Lyn and she showed her love for everyone by being interested and involved in their lives. She was a skilled crafter and quilter, loved to read and enjoyed camping. Linda’s funeral was held on November 3, 2010 at St. Paul’s United Church in Boissevain followed by interment at Boissevain Cemetery. The RCMP honored Linda by being her pallbearers and many members lined the steps of the church, in their Red Serge. The Legion Auxiliary Honor Guard and many friends and family were present for the service. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Dr. Nell and the staff of the Boissevain Health Centre who provided Linda and her family both comfort and support throughout her illness. Also a thank you to Dr. Bashir and his health care team at CancerCare for their compassion and care. Linda met each of the challenges of her illness with grace and dignity and was always protective of her family. We love and missyour happy spirit.Death leaves a heartache no one can heal;Love leaves memories no one can steal. Love you always. May you rest in peace.
