HARKNESS: Floyd Almer October 28, 1949 - December 6, 2010. Floyd passed away at home in Calgary surrounded by his family at the age of 61 after a brief battle with cancer. Floyd was born in Brandon, Manitoba, and raised on the family farm in Alexander, Manitoba. Floyd is survived by his loving wife Linda, children; Lorne (Krista), Kerri (Myles), Sherri (Kevin); four grandchildren: Josh, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, MyKaila and close nephew Tony. He is also survived by his parents Lorne and Shirley Harkness of Alexander, Manitoba; siblings: Bill (Judy), Larry (Donna), Lloyd (Shawna), Cheryl (Tony), Shawna (Ralph) as well as Linda's family, and numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd drove a gravel truck in Brandon while working the farm until 1986 when the family moved to Calgary. He worked for the City of Calgary in the Parks Division, then the Sewer Services Division until he was forced to be off with his illness. Floyd loved his pool game, and looked forward to the BCA and VNEA tournament in Vegas every year. He was an avid woodworker, repairing pool cues and he was a pen maker. If you could not find him, he was usually in his shop. Sundays, he always had a group watching NFL Football on TV. Floyd and Linda traveled extensively in North America, and enjoyed their vacation condo in Las Vegas. Floyd loved the horse races, and his last trip was to Del Mar Racetrack. Family was Floyd's life. He was always there for advice and to help. Thanks to Dr. Patricia Tang, Dr. Brian Liggett and the Palliative Home Care team.
