BUTLER: Hazel Anne passed away suddenly on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon. Hazel was born on June 10, 1926 in Killarney, Manitoba. She was raised by her parents Frederick and Joan Love on a farm near Ninga, Manitoba. Hazel went to school at the Hiawatha School, a one room country school near Ninga. She decided on a career in nursing and graduated from the Brandon nursing program in 1952. After graduation, Hazel worked at the Brandon General Hospital for 39 years and retired in 1991. Hazel married Cyril "Cy" Butler on June 18, 1960 and they spent their years together in Brandon raising their three daughters Jo-ann, Lois and Melanie. After retirement Hazel became very involved with her three grandchildren who were the light of her life. She also had a special place in her heart for the many family pets. Cy's health began to decline and Hazel spent her time taking care of him as well. Left to cherish her memory are daughters: Jo-ann (Garry) Defoort, Lois (Allan) Mott and Melanie (Jamie) Hart all of Brandon. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Shawn and Erica Defoort and Mathew Mott. She leaves her niece Willa and nephew Jim and their families as well as a number of friends and colleagues. Hazel was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Joan Love and her husband Cyril Butler. Funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, November 26, 2010. Mr. Joe Ball, Hospital Chaplain officiated. Pallbearers were Garry Defoort, Allan Mott, Jamie Hart and Shawn Defoort. Interment followed at Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Hazel may be made to Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for Western MB Cancer Care Project, 150 McTavish Ave East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
