RICHMOND: Annie Margaret Elinor Richmond (Nee Lloyd). It is with sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Elinor Richmond at the Treherne hospital on Tuesday December 14th, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Elinor is survived by her son Darwin (Diana) granddaughter Krista Bouchard (Darin) grandson Regan (Alicia Vertz) and great grandchildren Brady and Tara Lee Bouchard. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, many of whom spent summer holidays at the Richmond home. Elinor was the last surviving aunt from her generation. Elinor was predeceased by her husband Gordon her three brothers Dick (Mary) Chris (Emily) Charley (Betty) and Gordons sister Winnie Jonasson (Hjortur) and brothers Arnold (Eileen) and Henry (Eleanor). Elinor was born January 25 1922 at Grahamdale, Manitoba. Her father died when she was three so she and her mother and brothers lived in several locations including the Lockport area and Mafeking. She left home as a young teen and began working at Winnipeg Beach in the late thirties. In 1942 she came to Cypress River to visit her brother Chris who was working for the Aubry family. She became acquainted with the Burgess family who ran the grocery store and began working for them. She met Gordon at a dance and they were married in the fall of 1944.They farmed north of town until 1972 at which time they moved to town. After Gordons passing in 1996 Elinor lived on her own until 2003 when she moved into the Cypress River Lodge. A private family burial will be held at the Glencoe Cemetery on Monday, December 20, 2010. The family invites everyone to join them on Monday, December 20th at 2:00 p.m. at the Cypress River Community Hall for a Celebration of Elinors life, followed by lunch and reminiscing.
