MacKENZIE: The passing of Marjorie Louise MacKenzie (nee Mears) of Brandon occurred at Fairview Home on Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Marjorie was born in Brandon on August 1, 1937. She grew up in Brandon and attended King George Elementary School and Earl Haig Junior High. She left Brandon in 1957 to go to work in Winnipeg. In 1960, Marjorie married Joseph MacKenzie who was with the Canadian Forces. They lived in Winnipeg, Hemer West Germany, Gagetown New Brunswick, Shilo and then retired to Brandon in 1991. Marjorie worked at the Brandon General Hospital and later for CFB Shilo as kitchen staff supervisor from 1975 until retirement in 1991. In her younger years Marjorie played softball and later became an avid sports fan. She enjoyed playing bingo and baking for her family and friends. Marjorie is survived by her sons: James (Diane) of Brandon, Dale (Tracey) of Brandon, Murdock (Kim) of Sprucewoods; daughter Linda (Cliff) Rosenberg of Lethbridge, Alberta; grandchildren Shauna, Jamie, C.J., Robin of Brandon, John and Ashley of Lethbridge and great grandchildren Andre of Sprucewoods and Austin of Lethbridge. She also leaves to mourn sisters; Kay Mears of Brandon and Shirley (Larry) Cole of Hamilton, Ontario. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents Louise and Bill Mears, husband Joseph (Chico) MacKenzie, brothers Albert and Howie and sisters Peggy and Evelyn. Prayers will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's RomanCatholic Church, 327 - 4th Street on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Celebrants will be Rev. Fr. Dominic Yuen and Deacon John MacKenzie. Private family interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Friends who desire may make a donation in memory of Marjorie to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Office B - 727 10th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 4G7.
