Gwen passed away quietly, with her four boys by her side, on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 71. Gwen was born in Hamiota, Manitoba. Following her marriage to Jack Bell in 1956 she lived in various communities in Manitoba, Fort Smith, NWT, Calgary, Melfort and Saskatoon. She was a long time employee of the federal government in administration and human resources, worked on such projects as the Whooping Crane recovery project near Wood Buffalo National Park, and at the Research Station in Melfort, before closing her career with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. Gwen was predeceased by her parents Sophie and Victor Edwards, brother Graham “Eddie” Edwards, husband Jack, and father and mother-in-law Steve and Gwen Bell. She is survived by her sister Doreen Bullen (Jim) four sons, John (Kelly), Dan, Rick (Kim), Scott (Lorraine), grandchildren, Jason, Jeri Lynn, Aaron, Justin, Aime and Evan, and great grandson Caius, as well as sister-in-law Mae Edwards, brothers-in-law Spence (Wendy), Bob (Lawrie) Bell, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial to celebrate her life will take place in the spring of 2011. A further announcement will appear at that time. The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, case workers, home care workers, friends and neighbors who were so supportive in helping Gwen remain independent in her own home. Gwen touched many lives and she will be deeply missed. Per ardua ad astra.
