BAUDAIS: Myrna Marie Baudais (Friesen), October 25, 1932 to January 19, 2011. Myrna passed peacefully from this earth January 19, 2011 at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg at the age of 78. She was predeceased by her parents William and Elizabeth (Toews), her husband Alfred Joseph Fred Baudais, her sisters Norma Brown (Harry) and Bernice Burns (Arthur) her brother-in-law Harry Brown, her nephew Jeffrey Burns, and her niece Carolee Burns. She is survived by her brother Bill of Flin Flon, MB, her niece Donna Lee Brown of Edmonton, AB, her brother-in-law Bud Burns, her nephew Steve Burns (Rebecca) all of Cocoa Beach, FL, her step daughter Pat Harper (Harold) of Caledon, ON, her step sons Bill (Margaret) of Elko, BC and Mike (Wenda) of Calgary, AB. Myrna was born in the then small prairie town of Melfort in Saskatchewan and was one of four children in the family. She had two older sisters, Norma and Bernice and one younger brother Bill. She grew up in Brandon, Manitoba where the family had moved in 1945. She was a spirited and sociable girl with many friends and enjoyed playing team sports, especially basketball. She was a member of the Y Queens an outstanding girls basketball team in the years 1946-1950. She and the others on the team were inducted into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991. After high school graduation she took work with the Bank Of Montreal in Brandon, later working many years at the banks main branch at Portage and Main St. in Winnipeg, from which she took an early retirement at age 55, around 1987. She enjoyed spending many a winter vacation with her older sister Bernice and her family in Cocoa Beach Florida. In 1991 she married the love of her life, Fred Baudais. It has been said that he was her rock and she was his delight. They shared a passion for golf, both being long time members of the Assiniboine Golf Club in Winnipeg. Here they golfed all summer and then carried on the game all winter in Florida where they had established a winter home in Lake Wales. What fun they and all their friends must have had! In January 2007 her husband passed away and becoming ever more frail with the passing years she spent the last two years at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the staff of this facility and also all those who visited her for the support they gave Myrna in her final years. Cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Wednesday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. Interment beside her beloved Husband Fred at Rosewood Memorial gardens in Brandon, MB will take place at a future time.
