MURRAY Alan Bernard (Bernie) passed away on January 11th, 2011 at the age of 77. Bernie was born in Lyleton, Manitoba on February 19th, 1933. He was raised in Melita and after finishing high school went west for a short stint in the oil patch. Upon returning to Melita he met and married Rita Newbury on February 1st, 1956.He purchased his fathers Front Street garage business and over the years sold many line of automotive and farm equipment. He played a role in the business development of Melita as he built several buildings south of the highway and one commercial building on Main Street.He enjoyed farming but still found time for one of his true passions, flying. Bernie enjoyed family times, traveling, flying, fishing and many sports.He was predeceased by his parents Robert & Marjorie and sister Joan McDonald.He is survived by his wife Rita of 55 years, sons Dwayne (Peggy), Dwight (Cara), daughters Monica (Don) Lesy, Marcia Vrooman, grandchildren Ryan (Tammy), Reagan (Kayla) & Karlyn Murray, Morgan, Brett & Page Murray, Meghan (Jeff) Dyck and Brayden Lesy, Cory & Kyle Vrooman, Jason & Kendal Hobbs, great grandchildren Gage Murray & Justin Hobbs, sister Beverley (Val) Kjernisted, brother Brian (Virginia) Murray, sister in law Margaret Gervais, brother in law Dennis (Helen) Newbury, David (Peggy) Newbury as well as many cousins, nieces & nephews.A family service was held on Friday, January 14th, 2011 at the Redpath Funeral Home, Melita, Man. with Reverend Barb Alston officiating. Interment followed at the Melita Cemetery.
