YOUNG: (McKinney) Dorothy Elizabeth. Peacefully on Feb. 15th, 2011 Dorothy passed away at the Willowview Lodge in Reston. Dorothy was born on June 10, 1917 in Bethune Sk. She was the fifth child of Rev. James and Mary [Bolton] Caldwell. There were eight children, Wilton, Ken, Anna, Esther, Dorothy, James, Marion and Elma. Dorothy was the last surviving member. Dorothy married Lloyd McKinney in 1936. From this union two sons were born., Jim and Bill. Lloyd died in 1963. Dorothy remarried Ovey Young. Ovey died in 1988. Dorothy had a great musical gift that she shared with others throughout her life. At the age of 50 she took up trap shooting. She became an excellent trap shooter, winning several trophies. As every one knows she did love to talk, we all wondered how she stopped long enough to hit the targets. She proved us wrong by shooting a perfect 100!!!. Dorothy was a life member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Waskada United Church. Dorothy travelled the world, never forgetting little details of every place she visited. She had a wonderful memory for names, places and family history. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two sons, Jim [Bev] and Bill (Shirley). Seven grandchildren: Debra (Blayne) Temple, Lloyd (Lucille) McKinney, Murray (Darlene) McKinney, Lori (Alton) Gervin, Jeff (Vivian) McKinney, Brad (Leslie) McKinney, Greg [Sheena] McKinney. Thirteen great grandchildren: Grayson (Jennifer), Harv. (Angela) Temple, Shelby (Ryan) Mosset), Lathan, Linden, Lonica, Cole, Carter, Nakita, KC. McKinney, Kara, George, Krista Gervin. Two great great grandchildren: Olivia and Caleb Mosset. Interment took place at the Waskada Cemetery . Urnbearer was Brad McKinney. Each family member laid red rose in honar of a life well lived and the many memories Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma left with each and everyone of us. A memorial service was held at Waskada United Church on Feb. 21. Officiating, Rev. Dwight Rutherford and Rev. Glen Whetter. Organist Donna Millar. Granddaughters, Debra Temple and Lori Gervin did the reflections of their Grandmothers life. Adjourning to the church annex for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Lunch served by the church ladies.
