CUMMINS: Graydon Kenneth. On Friday, February 25, 2011 Graydon Kenneth Cummins passed away peacefully at the Shoal Lake Health Centre at the age of 88 years. He was born on October 18, 1922 in the R.M. of Strathclair to William and Marie Cummins. Dad attended school at Green Bluff School. Dads fondness for animals took him to the University of Ottawa to take a veterinary course. On June 11, 1948 Dad married our Mother, Grace Church and they farmed on their farm south of Ipswich in the Green Bluff District until retiring to his home farm where he was born and raised. Their farming life included raising registered Black Angus cattle. Dads passion in life was antiques and history. Dads other passion that was most important to him was his family, friends and extended family and was always very inerested in their work and activities. Dad followed hockey all his life whether it be local, junior or NHL hockey. A big part of Dads leisure life was camping and fishing with family and his Stuart Lake friends. Dad was always more than willing to help anyone who was in need with his wonderful ability to solve problems, with his knowledge at any cost or time of day. Dad always claimed he was a Jack of all trades and master of none. In 2007 Dad moved to a suite in Morley House, Shoal Lake, Manitoba where he continued to enjoy old and new friends and took up a new hobby of reading. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Diane Robertson, Theresa (Dennis) Wareham and his son Randy (Cathy) Cummins; his cherished grandchildren Onalea (Rob) Holden, Amberley (Kurt) Baldwin, Kelly (Stephanie) Robertson and Ashley (Cory) Harmon; his dear great grandchildren Cory Holden, Colin Holden, Keith Baldwin and Trace Baldwin. Graydon was predeceased by his wife Grace, his parents and Graces parents and son-in-law Ronald Robertson. Dad lived his life to the fullest and touched the lives of all who knew him. At Dads request a graveside service was held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 with Elgin Hall officiating at the Strathclair Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Cancer Care Society, Hamiota District Health Centre, Chemotherapy Unit, 177 Birch Avenue East, Hamiota, Manitoba, R0M 0T0 or the Strathclair Museum c/o Helga Gerrard, Strathclair, Manitoba, R0J 2C0.
