RANDALL: On March 9th, 2011 David Alan Randall, at age 64, died peacefully in his sleep after a long and courageous battle with cancer at Killarney Tri-Lake Health Centre. David was born August 9th, 1946 in Killarney, Manitoba to Gordon & Anne Randall. He spent his early years at Northcote Country School and attended high school in Killarney. At the age of 19 David had achieved his commercial pilot’s licence and worked for Lamb Air out of the Pas, Manitoba for one winter. One of David’s enjoyments was being a part of Civil Air Search and Rescue (CASARA) out of Brandon for approximately 10 years. He spent many hours learning to play different instruments as a child. The trumpet, drums & guitar were some of his favourites. David was in the Killarney Band and later played in many bands which were such a big & important part of David’s life. Some of the bands that David played with were Towns Orchestra, Margo & the Fugitives, Randall Revelers, Country Expressions, Randall Family Band, and filled in for many others when called upon. After farming with his dad in the late sixties David moved to Brandon and started his employment first with Anglo, Royalite, Gulf, Petro Canada, and finally Superior Propane. He took a break from the propane business in the late 70’s and drove transit bus for the city of Brandon for 5 years. David travelled many miles across Manitoba as a gas fitter and enjoyed the many people he came in contact with through his job. David valued the friendship of his co-workers and considered them family. David had two children, Tanis & Shaun from his first marriage Brenda Johnston. David met his soul mate Edie in 1981 and they were married in 1987. Their 29 years were spent together making many memories. They spent many years camping throughout Manitoba. Many memorable vacations were spent touring the country and going where the spirit led! David & Edie lived in Brandon till June of this past year. In 1999, they purchased a cabin in Killarney and many years of enjoyment were spent there. In 2008, David demolished the cabin and began building their new home. David and Edie spent 3 years planning and building their dream home along Killarney Lake and have enjoyed living in it for the past 8 months. David’s infectious smile described his love and enjoyment of life which impacted everyone he met. His humour was contagious even in the hospital causing laughter even in the most difficult circumstances.
