LANGMAN: The death of Gordon Wesley Langman, dear father of Darlene (Ron) Leslie, occurred in Brandon on Monday, March 21, 2011. Gordon was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on July 13, 1923. He was raised and attended school in Maple District, Saskatchewan until the family moved to Beresford, Manitoba in 1937 and then to Bunclody, Manitoba in 1939. The family moved to Brandon around 1945, where Gordon attended Business College. On July 12, 1947, Gordon married Vivian Jean Spain, of Bunclody and they enjoyed 61 years, 6 months and 17 days together. They lived in Rivers and Gordon worked for Foreman Hardware Store. They had two daughters, Darlene and Deborah. In about 1956, the family moved to Brandon where Gordon worked for McArthur Trucking, the Victoria Inn and Christie School Supply. Gordon's life revolved around his family and involved activities such as camping, travelling and family get-togethers. His hobbies included woodworking andwhen he could no longer do that he took up crocheting afghans. He was handy with his hands and completed an addition to the house on Cherry Crescent and their trailer at Minnedosa Lake, under the supervision of Vivian. He was a dedicated grandfather to his granddaughters, Shannon and Sheri and more recently to his great-granddaughter, Ava. Gordon is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Darlene (Ron) Leslie of Winnipeg; granddaughters, Shannon Leslie (Egan Henderson) of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Sheri Fisher (nee Leslie) (Jason) of Brandon and great-granddaughter Ava Lynn Fisher, also of Brandon. He is also survived by his sister Beryl Moar (Gordon) of Kelowna, British Columbia; brother George Langman of Mexico and sister-in-law Anne Spain of Brandon and many nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his father and mother, Fred and Hazel Langman and his step-mother Carrie Langman, his wife Vivian Langman, daughter Deborah Lynn Langman and brother-in-law Norman Victor Spain. The family would like to thank Dr. Moller, the staff on 400 West of the Brandon General Hospital and the staff at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home for the professional and compassionate care that they provided Gordon. A memorial service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, Brandon on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. Colleen Gareau will officiate. A private interment service will be held prior. Flowers are gratefully declined.
