WEBSTER: The death of Doreen Margaret Webster occurred in Brandon on Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Doreen was born October 3, 1925 at Birtle, Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm near Birtle and then moved to Brandon in 1939. Doreen received her education in Birtle and then later attended Brandon Collegiate Institute. Following school she furthered her education by taking a secretarial course. She was employed as a secretary, was a sergeant in the army (1943-1946) and worked at Lindenberg Seeds. Doreen married Jack Webster in 1947 and they moved to Cape Breton in 1969 where she fell in love with the ocean. Upon Jack's retirement from Gulf Oil, they returned to Brandon in 1981. Doreen belonged to the Knox United Church, UCW, Eastern Star and volunteered for church, the Canadian Cancer Society and community events. Doreen was the centre of the family, always happy to arrange reunions and get-togethers. She was an avid sewer most of her life and loved to read and learn new things as well as spend time in her garden. She and Jack enjoyed travelling to places such as The United Kingdom, Europe, Hawaii, throughout Canada and the United States. Doreen is survived by her husband Jack Webster, daughters: Pat Constantine (Gary) and Cathy Wolfe (Reed); granddaughters: Allea and Deanna Wolfe. Also surviving is her sister Gladys Connolly and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Hopley, brothers Dick and Sandy. The Ceremony to Celebrate Doreen's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, May 2, 2011. Rev. David Cathcart of Knox United Church officiated. Urn Bearer was Pat Constantine. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
