KUBANOWSKI: Jozef W. (W.O. Retired) - Suddenly on Tuesday June 7, 2011, Jozef (Joe) aged 65 years of Brandon MB passed away. Joe was born in Hohenfels D.P. camp, W. Germany in 1945 and came to Canada in 1952. He served 33 years in the Armed Forces, RCEME, and was stationed in Kingston ON, Calgary Alberta, Lahr W. Germany, Borden and Ottawa, Ontario. He retired to Brandon with his wife Judy in 1995. Joe participated in the Base Borden Rifle Club & Community Council, and the Lahr Christian Men's Club. He was always willing to help anyone who asked, including preparing outside skating rinks for neighborhood children in Borden. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife and daughters in Lahr W. Germany, and bowling with the local league in Orleans, Ontario. In his quiet time, Joe loved to read, whittle, or make things with hishands, and lovingly supported his wife Judy's volunteer work with Welcome Wagon, TOPS, Cancer Society, Lung Association, and Crown Jewels of Canada. He is survived by his wife Judy (nee Dunn); daughters Sherri (James) Potvin, and Cheryl (Scott) Carpenter; grandchildren Matthew Carpenter, and Jennie & Amanda Potvin. Joe is also survived by his brothers: John (Charlotte) Kuban, his twin Frank (Janet) Kubanowski, and Tony (Shannon) Kubanowski; nephews Shane Kuban, Martin Kubanowski; nieces Brenda & Julie Kubanowski, Teresa Wall, and Lisa Dunn. He was predeceased by his parents Jan and Janina (nee Szindler) Kubanowski. Viewing and Memorial Service was held on Saturday June 11, 2011 at Memories Chapel, Brandon, Manitoba, followed by a private family interment at Rivers Cemetery, Rivers, Manitoba, with Rev. David Cathcart officiating. Pallbearers were John Kuban, Frank Kubanowski, Tony Kubanowski, Ron Dunn, Greg Dunn, Tony Wall and James Potvin. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr.'s B. Bookatz, J. Velthuysen, C. Norman; Rev. Joe Ball; and the staff at Brandon Regional Hospital.
