KENDRICK:The death of Vera Ann Kendrick (nee Pettypiece) occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre in Brandon, Manitoba on Saturday, July 30, 2011. Mom was born and raised on the family farm at Reston, Manitoba and received her education at Prairie Rose School and Reston High School. After public school she attended nursing school in Portage la Prairie, returning to Brandon to attend Normal School to take clerical courses. Mom worked for several local businesses until she was employed by the Manitoba Government at the Brandon Mental Health Centre retiring in 1978. Mom married dad, William A. Kendrick on June 29, 1946 at her family farm in Reston. They resided in Brandon. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her sister Norma Simpson of Virden, brother- in-law Cecil Coleman of Virden, sister-in-law Betty Kendrick of Victoria, B.C., son Dwain (Betty) of Matlock, Manitoba, daughter Gail (Norman) Rusk of Brandon. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Tracy (Shelley), of Winnipeg, Kim of Chetwynd, B.C., Lisa (Brock) of Winnipeg, Dean (Wallena) of Calgary, AB, Heather (Kelly) of Winnipeg, and great-grandchildren Justin (Samantha), Kate and Will of Winnipeg, Des and Shaylynn of Chetwynd, BC, Evan and Grace of Winnipeg and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband "Bill" on November 16, 2005, her parents, Margaret and Perry, sister Doreen Coleman, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles. Mom enjoyed many card games with family and friends, knitting, puzzles, and the many places she and Dad travelled in the USA and Canada. Mom had special memories of the winters in Victoria, B.C. with family and friends. Mom and Dad enjoyed summers at the cottage at Lake Metigoshe for many years. After Bill's passing, Momenjoyed several years at the Victoria Landing. A special thank-you to the nurses and staff of BRHC, especially the nurses on A2 Assiniboine Centre for their care and compassion shown to Mom. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Smith for her kindness and understanding during Mom's short stay, as well to her family physician Dr. Rose Farag who took excellent care of Mom for many years. Family and friends are invited to share their memories at a come and go reception at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, between the hours of 2:00 and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 with a time of reflection at 2:15 p.m. A private family graveside ceremony will take place at Reston Cemetery.
