RAMSTEAD: George Lawrence Ramstead went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 67 years. George was born May 26, 1944 at Broadview, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm near Dubuc, Saskatchewan. He was the second youngest of a family of five, three brothers, one sister. George received his education at Round Lake School and later worked at various retail establishments. In 1967, he began working at Perth's Cleaners in Yorkton and transferred to Brandon in 1976, retiring in 2004. George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with family and friends. George was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and watching football, baseball, golf and Wheat Kings Hockey. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends, travelling throughout Canada and the United States. George and Betty especially enjoyed their trips to Hawaii, Florida, California and their trip to the East Coast upon Betty's retirement. George was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary, two infant siblings, sister-in-law Barbara Ramstead and numerous aunts and uncles. George is survived by his wife Betty; daughters Kim (Prince) Osawe and Kerri Ramstead and his precious granddaughter Mercedes Osawe. He is also survived by his brothers: Gordon (Darlen), Gerald, and David (Gloria); sister Winnie (Bill) Schultz and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The Funeral Ceremony will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North. Rev. Dr. Dong-Ha Kim will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Chorney, Charlie Cookson, Darren Geletchuk, David Andrusiek, Gordon Cookson and Mike Presiloski. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of George to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2W8 or to the Manitoba Lung Association, 8 - 940 Princess Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 0P6.
