LAKIN: Mollie Lakin, age 86 years of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away September 28, 2011 at the Prairie Pioneers Lodge, Swift Current. The funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from St. Stephen's Anglican Church, with Reverend Jonathan Hoskin officiating. The eulogist's were: Heather Probe, Jody Tonnies, Kim Hunchak and Corrine Haygarth. The pallbearers were: Ethan Tonnies, John Bokkel, Andrew Bokkel, Rob Wiebe, Miles Jarvin and Mark Adamski. Mollie is survived by her children: Eric (Jacqueline) Lakin, Swift Current, SK; Terry (June) Lakin, Yorkton, SK; grandchildren: Heather (Shawn) Probe, Kim (Dave) Hunchak, Jody (Norman) Tonnies, Corrine (Darren) Haygarth. Ten great grandchildren: Ethan Tonnies, Jackson Tonnies, Avery Tonnies, Luke Probe, Nile Probe, Ava Probe, Alyssa Hunchak, Brendan Hunchak, Matthew Haygarth, Blake Haygarth; one step great grandaughter Sydney Haygarth; three sisters: Joyce Adamski, Jacqueline (Clem) Jarvin, Greta Miles and numerous neices and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Florence Miles, husband Eric Lakin (2005), sister Irene Tuitert, great nephew Christopher Bokkel, brothers-in-law: Walter Bokkel, Martin Tuitert and Micheal Adamski (Sr.) Mollie was born May 29, 1925 in Hemsworth, Yorkshire, England. She attended school in Hemsworth and on June 30, 1945 was united in marriage to Eric Lakin in England. The couple emigrated to Canada with two young sons. Mollie was employed at the Brandon Mental Hospital, Brandon, Manitoba for 25 years. The family moved to Swift Current in 1975 and a few years later she was employed at the Swift Current Care Centre until her retirement in 1990. Due to failing health she became a resident in the Prairie Pioneers Lodge in 2005, where she resided until her passing. Her special interests and hobbies included: becomming a Cub Scout Leader, bowling, knitting, playing games, especially scrabble. She loved baking and visiting with friends and she especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren. Memorial donations in her memory to the Prairie Pioneers Lodge Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
