HILL: Joyce Alison (nee Hartwell) June 24, 1926 - October 26, 2011. With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Alison Hill (nee Hartwell) in Brandon on October 26, 2011. She is survived by her twin sister June Walker of Phoenix, Arizona and brothers Ron Hartwell of Calgary, Coke (Moya) Hartwell of Calgary and Ken (Barb) Hartwell of Minneapolis, Minnesota as well as her four children, Lloyd (Fern) of Calgary, Karen Greaves (Brian) of Miniota, Doreen Maxin (Robert) of Winnipeg and Bryan (Marion) of Calgary. Joyce also leaves behind six grandchildren, Alison and Mark Greaves and Gregory, Janelle, Derek and Ryan Maxin. David, her husband of 51 years, predeceased her in 2001. Joyce was born and raised in Swan Lake, Manitoba and then attended the University of Winnipeg where she completed her Education degree.  She taught in Boissevain before she and Dave were married in 1950 and moved to Dauphin where they resided for the next 49 years. Joyce was active in the community taking leadership roles in the curling league and ACW as well as volunteering for over 30 years in the Girl Guide movement.  Joyce and Dave moved to Miniota in 1999 to be closer to their grandchildren and she resided there for 10 years before moving into a seniors residence in Brandon in 2009.   A graveside service will be held in Miniota, Manitoba on Saturday, November 5th, 2011 at 1:30 p.m.  Family and friends are invited to stop by Karen and Brian Greaves’ home, between 2:30 and 4:30, for a time of fellowship to celebrate Joyce’s life.
