McDONALD: Alexander James. September 27, 1914 December 6, 2011. Alex (Bus) McDonald passed away peacefully at home in Calgary, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the age of 97 years. Alex was born on the family farm near Rivers, Manitoba, the first of six sons of William and Katherine. The war took him west where he met the love of his life, Margaret, and settled in Alberta. Alex worked as a laborer until being hired by the City of Calgary, retiring in maintenance at City Hall. Alexs passion was music. From when he was a young lad he loved to play his fiddle, guitar, mouth-organ and auto-harp at home, church, and dances. Alex is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret; sons Murray (Lily) and Tom; daughter Lori (David Little); granddaughters Shawna-Seah and Tamara; brothers Lloyd and Jack (Peggy), and sister-in-law, Bernie, all of Manitoba, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alex was predeceased by his father, mother and brothers, Glen, Gus and Wally. Funeral Services will be held at Foothills United Church, 3803 69 Street NW, Calgary, AB, Monday, December 19, 2011 at 1:30 pm.
