CARLISLE: Olive Carlisle passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Souris Personal Care Home. Olive would have celebrated her 100th birthday in March. She was born in Paw Paw Illinois, on March 20, to the late James I. and Ada Moffatt. Olive married Earl Charles in 1936 and had 3 sons, Ivan, John and Mickey. Olive was a very hard worker in the farm. She raised chickens, milked cows, had a big garden and baked many endless hours. She was famous for her buns and pails of cookies. Olive and Earl showed their Hackney horses, Sailor and Monoplane, at many fairs. Olive was a Life Time Member of the Carroll UCW and church. She loved music and played the organ. Olive was predeceased by son Ivan in 1981, husband Earl in 1987, daughter-in-law Rose Carlisle and sisters Sara Andrew, Alva Graham and brothers Hope, Rob and Jimmy Moffatt. Olive is survived by son John and wife Debbie, son Mickey and wife Teenie, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are hae sister Ada Gray of Boissevain, brother Lloyd Moffatt of Welland Ontario, sisters in law Gladys Moffatt and Cora Moffatt and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held at Carroll Cemetery on Saturday, February 11th with Rev. Wendy Rankin officiating. Active pallbearers were grandchildren, Kendall Carlisle, Corey Carlisle, Darrel Carlisle, Darcy Carlisle, Brady Carlisle and Cora Lee Rice. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Arrangements were by Kowalchuks Funeral Home, Souris, Manitoba.
