HORN: Eunice Isabel Horn (nee Kilmury), surrounded by her four daughters, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, on March 5, 2012 at the Minnedosa and District Hospital. Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her four daughters, Lori McNabb (Bruce) of Minnedosa, MB, Brenda Wales (Rick Hurley) of Winnipeg, MB, Marla Horn of Lethbridge, AB and Dawna White (Lloyd) of Kenora, ON.; her six grandchildren, Leslie and Brett McNabb, Jenna and Trent Wales, and AJ and Mack White; her three sisters, Margaret Diehl, Norma McKie and Glenora Hamilton, brother-in-law Rae Hamilton and sister-in-laws Shirley McIntosh and Monika Horn plus numerous nieces and nephews. Eunice was predeceased by her parents Lewis and Mabel Kilmury, brother Elliott Kilmury, step-father Bert Ames, brother- in-laws Hugh McKie, Alden Diehl, Norman Horn, Edward Horn mother-in-law Alberta Horn, father-in-law Russell Horn and ex-husband James (Jim) Horn. Eunice was born on August 3, 1931 to parents Lewis and Mabel Kilmury in Boissevain, MB, the middle child of 5 children. She spent her early years on the family farm just north of Killarney, MB. Before she was married, she taught school for a short period of time and worked in secretarial and book-keeping positions. In 1956, Eunice married Jim Horn and together they raised four daughters. After Jim’s retirement from the RCMP in 1979, Eunice and Jim moved back to Minnedosa permanently. It was in Minnedosa that Eunice started a new career as a Braille Transcriber through the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and was employed by the provincial Special Education Department. It was a fulfilling and challenging career that gave her great pleasure. Eunice’s favorite activities were golfing, curling, watching her beloved Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, spending quality time with her family and friends and definitely the game of bridge! Eunice will forever be remembered as having a great sense of humour, being a fun and loyal friend and a caring mother and grandmother. The funeral service was held on March 10, 2012 at the Minnedosa United Church with Rev. Natasha Pearen officiating with internment in Minnedosa Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were cared for by Minnedosa Funeral Services. Memorial donations may be sent to the Minnedosa and District Foundation, Box 1980, Minnedosa, MB, R0J 1E0 or to charity of choice.
