CLEGG: On March 15th, 2012, God quietly took Roland Rollie Emerson Clegg, at the age of 100, to be with him, and to join his beloved wife Gladys. He will be greatly missed by his: daughter Faye (George) Brown; son Jim (Norma) Clegg; grandchildren: Leanne (Craig) Peel, Jana (Terry) Joseph, Brenda (Greg) Sturko, Belinda (Cliff) CarterSquire, and Brad Clegg; great-grandchildren: Lyndsi and Colin Peel, Teagan, Brady and Taryn Joseph, Aisha and James Sturko, Loretta and Gino CarterSquire, Conor and Larissa Clegg. Rollie had a full and rewarding life. He spent 73 happy years married to a wonderful woman whom he loved with all his heart, until her passing on November 22nd, 2009. Rollie and Gladys were married in Binscarth and eventually moved to the farm in Arrow River where they resided for 57 years. During this time they not only raised their family and continued to farm, Rollie also started up his own business R.E. Clegg & Son Welding. He worked alongside his son Jim for many years and the business thrived. In later years Rollie discovered a passion for collecting and restoring antique horse drawn equipment, which resulted in the Clegg Museum coming to be. The Museum brought him much pride and pleasure, and provided a lot of social activity both away and at home for both he and Gladys. His love of history turned a hobby into a remarkable contribution that will eventually be available for all to enjoy at the Prairie Mountain Regional Museum in Shoal Lake/Strathclair. Rollie and Gladys spent their last years together living at the Lilac Residence in Hamiota where Rollie continued to live on his own until he turned 100 years of age. He reached this milestone, as he claimed he would, and enjoyed a 100th Birthday Celebration with all his family and many friends, just weeks before being admitted into the Hamiota Hospital. Rollie will always be remembered as a hardworking, honourable and generous man, who loved and provided for his family, and who lovingly cared for his wife right until their last moment together. As much as he will be sadly missed by all his loved ones, it brings great comfort knowing he is back where he longed to be with his wife Gladys by his side. A service to celebrate the lives of Rollie & Gladys was held at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Hamiota on March 24th, 2012. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to all those who helped throughout this difficult time: the many visitors who stopped by to check in on Rollie during his time in the hospital; the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Hamiota Health Center for the excellent care they provided; Dwayne and staff at Campbells Funeral Home; members of the Cornerstone Family Worship Center and all others who contributed to the hospitality following the funeral; and Pastor Orland for the meaningful service that honoured and celebrated the lives of this very special couple who touched so many of our hearts. Rollie & Gladys will be forever missed and never forgotten.
