Also left to mourn Guy’s passing are his brother George, of Cypress River, MB, sisters, Annette Fifi and Jackie Hutlet, of Brandon, MB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Guy was born January 25, 1931 in Bruxelles, MB to Arthur and Dorothee (nee Gregoire) Hutlet. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his first wife, Florida (nee Fiola), an infant daughter, his parents,  sister Jeannine Gillis, as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law. He attended the convent in Bruxelles for his school days. Guy married Florida Fiola, at Ste. Genevieve, MB on October 26, 1954. They farmed for four years on the former Gee farm four and one-half miles east of Cypress River. Guy showed his team of horses at local fairs. The family later moved to Cypress River, MB. In 1959 Guy accepted a job with Walter and Archie Defoort  to help with the transfer business. In 1962, Guy joined the construction firm of Gotthard Peterson as a caterpillar/truck driver, and carpenter; constructing schools at Melita and Strathclair. He was a mechanic at Helgason and Arason’s garage in Cypress River, later operated his own garage, then took up carpentry, for twenty-five years. Guy met Doreen Delgaty April 16, 1994 at a dance at Elgin, and soon took many trips to Killarney, MB. Their partnership was to continue for 18 years, until his passing. Besides restoring a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee tractor, he found ways to use his many skills of carpentry, welding, and innovative construction to make life easier for her. Guy was a member of the town board, and served as mayor of Cypress River for a short time. Their travels took them to Branson, Missouri, the Carribean, and Costa Rica. Together they took great pride in beautifying Cypress River with flower pots for several summers. He worked for the RM of Victoria, mowing the ball diamonds and the CPR grounds. He and Doreen made many friends at their old-time country dances. Guy’s last dance was at Belmont, March 9, 2012, shortly before leaving for Tijuana, Mexico’s Oasis of Hope Hospital for further cancer treatment, having been diagnosed with colorectal cancer in July of 2011. His sudden passing came as a shock and surprise to all. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Following a family burial in Killarney Cemetery, a celebration of Guy’s life was held at Willmor Chapel, Glenboro, MB Tuesday, March 27, 2012 with Phyllis Mulligan officiating. Donations may be made in Guy’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. On line condolences can be made by visiting www.willmorchapel.com.
