LUMSDEN: Helen Vada Mary (Hoath) Lumsden passed away peacefully at the Neepawa Hospital on March 29, 2012 at the age of 87. Helen was born in Killarney, MB on December 13, 1924 to Willie and Mary Day. She was the Baby Sister to 5 older brothers. She spent nine years going to Tisdale school for her education and then on to high school in Killarney. She then did house work for several different people, also worked in Kents Grocery Store and ended up at a diary farm delivering milk. Helen married Keith Hoath on Jan 20, 1945 and they were blessed with 3 daughters. Keith was a CPR Station Agent and they moved to several different communities including Deleau for 6 years and ending in Arden for 17 years when many of the stations in the province closed. In 1972 they purchased and operated Hoaths Grocery Store in Neepawa for 8 years. Helen loved to sing, play the piano and was a wonderful cook. Keith passed away in 1993 shortly after they had moved into Elks Manor. Helen continued to live in the Manor and in May of 1998 married Robert Lumsden. They spent many Sundays driving around the countryside and made one trip to Ireland and Scotland. Helen will be sadly missed by her husband Bob, her 3 daughters Brenda (Cliff) Sumner, Sandra (Lionel) McGhie and their children Jim (Tara) McGhie, Janelle (Doug) Wiebe and by Noreen Hoath and her children Gerald (Nicole) Stoughton and Dana Klym. Helen was blessed with 8 Great Grandchildren: Ashton and Haylee McGhie, Allysa, Brooke, Alexa & Emma Stoughton and Cole & Nia Klym. Helen also leaves to mourn step-son Lyle Lumsden and his children Laura & Scott, 4 sister-in-laws, Doreen Hoath, Isobel Day, Nell Day and Lenore Day, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Helen was pre-deceased by her parents Willie and Mary Day, her first husband Keith Hoath, 2 Grandsons, Tim and Cory Sumner, 5 brothers & 1 sister-in-law Ted (Margaret), Alvin, Cliff, John and Russell Day. The Funeral Service was held March 31, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Neepawa United Church with Rev Mark Satterly officiating. Internment followed at Riverside Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearer were all friends in attendance. In lieu of flowers, friends who so desire, may make a donation to the Charity of their choice. Angels are always near to those who are grievingTo whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hands of God.The family of Helen (Hoath) Lumsden would like to thank all those wonderful people that made a very difficult time bearable with all your hugs, cards and sympathy. All the medical people, Doctor Muligan and staff at the Neepawa Hospital, the ambulance people, the staff at the Brandon Emergency Centre, Doctor Penner, doctors and staff at the Intensive Care Unit at Brandon Hospital, Mary Ellen Clark who gave us support when we needed it most, Rev. Mark Satterly for all your visits and the funeral service, Ushers Ted and Janice Walker, the pianist and choir of the United Church. A special thanks to Ed Friessen for the wonderful job he did on the solo at the funeral, and Whites Funeral Home, Brian, you made things so much easier to complete.
