BAYES: Doris Evelyne (nee Norden). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Bayes, our much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother on April 13, 2012 at the age of 90, with her family by her side at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon, MB. She was born November 22, 1921 at Newdale, MB. Doris married Ernie Bayes on August 7, 1946. They farmed at Rapid City for many years before moving to Minnedosa in 1976 then in 2007 they moved to Victoria Landing in Brandon. Doris enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they will miss her dearly. She was a member of the Rapid City Legion Ladies Auxiliary and later a Minnedosa member. She loved playing cards and visiting with friends. Mom and Dad loved to travel during their retirement years seeing places such as Hawaii, Las Vegas, Sweden, and spent a few winters in Texas, Arizona and numerous winters in Victoria, B.C. Doris is survived by her husband Ernie of 65 years; son; Brian Bayes of Winnipeg, MB, daughters; Hazel (Kent) Taylor of Halifax, N.S., Joyce (Ron) Hay of Winnipeg, MB, Donna (Vernon) Lamb of Brandon, MB; daughter-in-law Dianne Bayes of Prince George, B.C.; eight grandchildren, twelve great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Hughie Bayes on February 23, 2012, her parents Ed and Mary Norden; sisters Florence Bradley, Elsie Wareham and Phyllis Abel. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at the Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, MB and Assiniboine Centre, Brandon, MB for their exceptional care. A funeral service was held on April 18, 2012 in the Minnedosa United Church, Minnedosa, MB with Rev. Natasha Pearen officiating. Interment followed in the Minnedosa Cemetery. Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Minnedosa Funeral Service in care of arrangements.
