SHARRATT: Mrs. Joyce “Joy” Sharratt of Oxbow, SK. passed away surrounded by her adoring family at the Galloway Health Centre, Oxbow on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the age of 83. Joy Woolfitt was born at Virden, MB. in 1928 to Jack and Mary Ann, she grew up on the farm south of Reston, MB. Joy was schooled at the small country school across from the farm. She later boarded in Virden, and attended school there. Her teacher kindly recommended her for a job at the bank in Kenton, MB. It was there that she met a tall handsome man named Everett Wallace. Joy and Everett were married in Brandon in 1948, and then made their home in Kenton. Deanna and Donald were born in Hamiota and the family appeared to be complete. The couple raised mink which was not as lucrative as expected, so they moved to Yorkton and operated a paint and decorating store. Lauree made a surprise appearance and it was about a year later the family moved to Oxbow in 1964. Sadly Joy lost her husband Everett in 1965. Joy was employed in the Tripp Building on Main St. at the Royal Bank, and later moved to its new location, kitty corner to the Tripp Building. For twenty -three years she enjoyed working with the people of the community and her interesting and fun co-workers. She did books for the United Church, Oxbow Tire Centre, and Donor’s Choice for many years, as well as helped with the U.C.W. as work would allow. Joy was a very generous person with her resources, time, wisdom, humor, and her love. In 1974 Trev Sharratt married Joy and the families combined with three daughters, two sons, fifteen grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Joy and Trev lived a happy and content life together. Trev left us in 2010 and Joy continued to live her life well with his memory never far from her mind. Joy lived life, and lived up to her name as all who loved her can attest. She will be missed but remembered with tender hearts and smiling faces. Joy was predeceased by her parents Mary Anne and Jack Baldwin; her first husband Everett Wallace, her second husband Trev Sharratt; in-laws Arthur and Georgina Wallace; all of her siblings and spouses: Ben (Nan) Woolfitt, Charles (Gertie) Woolfitt, sister Ellen Clark, Shirley (Cyril) Hunt, Fred Cooley, and Bob Wallace; step-daughters Delphie Bartel and Alana Sharratt. She is survived by her son Don (Janet) Wallace of Kelowna, BC., daughters Deanna (Jack) Szakacs of Calgary, AB. and Lauree (Marvin) Buchanan of Oxbow, step-son Terry (Louisa) Sharratt of Calgary, AB.; her loving grandchildren: Chris (Shinyi) Vallee, Shannon Szakacs, Trina (Jonathan) Koops, Mitchell, Chase and Matt Buchanan, Dylan Wallace, Tasha and Trevor Sharratt, William, Crissie, Saul, Bart, AJ and Carla Bartel; great-grandchildren Corbin and Ophelia Vallee, Jack and Henry Koops, Christian and Daniel Sharratt; two sisters-in-law Marilyn Wallace and Laura Cooley.
