WILCOX: Gary William John Wilcox passed away at Brandon Regional Health Centre June 1, 2012 with his soulmate and life partner Faye holding his hand. Gary was born June 11, 1941 in Brandon, Manitoba the eldest son of William and Cecilia Wilcox (Jackson). Early in Garys life he and his family moved to Oak Lake where he lived until 1959 at which time he moved back to Brandon. 1960 Gary married Faye Jordan and their marriage was blessed with three sons and one daughter. In 1967 Gary entered the electrical trade. During this time he worked for IBW on the building of the hydro dams in Northern Manitoba. Gary did not enjoy being separated from his family and decided to come home and start his own business in 1975. He became the proud owner operator of Gary Wilcox Electric which he continued to operate until shortly before his death. Gary loved to read and try new things and because of this he was able to pass on his knowledge and skills to his children and grandchildren. Gary loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings and many years of camping at Oak Lake Island Resort. In his younger years he was an avid fisherman and hunter until he traded his rifle for photography and hunted his deer through the lens of his camera. Gary was predeceased by the pride of his life his daughter Tammy Lynne Haggstrom, his parents William and Cecilia Wilcox, brother Douglas Wayne Wilcox. Gary will be missed by his family: Loving wife Faye, Sons Kenneth (Joanne), Dennis (Beth), Timothy (Krista) and their children and grandchildren, Son-in-law Gordon Haggstrom and his children and grandchildren. Service of Celebration of Garys life was held at Memories Chapel on June 5, 2012. Officiated by Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood of Central United Church. Urn Bearer was Dustin Wilcox (Eldest Grandson). Gary believed Life was to be lived as we learn and life was to be celebrated. He also believed death is a new journey and just the beginning of something more beautiful than we can ever imagine.
