HARDIE: Mabel Hardie (nee Bugg), 1924-2012. Surrounded by loving family, Mabel entered into rest at the Carberry Personal Care Home on July 2 at the age of 88. She was born in Lauder, Manitoba on March 13, 1924 to Otto & Bertie Bugg. She was the third youngest in a family of 11 brothers and sisters. She married Alex Hardie in 1945 and they made Carberry their lifelong home. Alex predeceased her in July, 2002. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Edna, Pearl, Elma and Ida and brothers Lorne, Ken, Art, Charlie & Harold. She is survived by one sister Norma Rawlinson of Melita, sisters in law Gladys Bugg, Lois Bugg and Audrey Bugg all of Melita. Mabel leaves to mourn her four children: Joan (Mac) Scott St. Albert; Don (Diane) Hardie Courtenay; Perry Hardie, Calgary; Greg (Dawna) Hardie Squamish: grandchildren Ian Scott, Edmonton; Graham (Joanne) Scott, St. Albert; Garth Scott (deceased); Shannon (Garrett) Mack, Sechelt; Ryan (Elaine) Hardie, Didsbury; Keith(Deana) Hardie, Didsbury; Angie Dupasquier, Olds. Mabel had 11 great grandchildren: Keegan & Cameron Scott, Jessica Gorgchuck, Brooklyn, Rogan & Mersadies Mack, Boston Hardie, Neely & Dylan Hardie, Taylor & Madisyn Dupasquier. She also leaves numerous nieces & nephews. Mabel was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, neighbour and friend. She was a very caring compassionate person. Mabel routinely visited those confined to the hospital or care home. She loved people and her large family of relatives & friends. She gave of herself to many worthwhile projects in the community by volunteering her time and energy. She was a founding member of the Sharon Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Carberry and celebrated more than 50 years with the organization. She was a 40 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 153. She was a very active member of the United Church and the United Church Women. She spent countless hours over several decades supporting all church fundraising events. Through these organizations and church she developed many lasting friendships. It also provided her with a sense of community outside her own home. Funeral service will be held in the Carberry United Church on Friday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be at the Carberry Plains Cemetery. For the past three years Mabel received compassionate, respectful and dignified care at the Carberry Care Home. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Carberry Care Home/Activities (Box 2000, Carberry, Manitoba ROK OHO) or the charity of your choice.
