BOWLES: Irma Evelyn Bowles (nee Litke). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irma Bowles, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Shoal Lake Strathclair Health Centre. Irma was born to Gottlib and Wanda Litke in New Sarepta, Alberta, on June 2, 1935. She moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba with her family at age 15 and worked as a waitress. She was an excellent banquet server and handled many of these events efficiently. Irma also worked in various clerical positions. In 1966, she met Douglas and moved to Brandon in 1967. Irma and Douglas married in 1974 and together raised their blended family. Upon retirement, they moved to a rural setting north of Strathclair and later moved to the village of Strathclair. In 1974, Irma became a Ham Radio Operator (VE4NZ), this was an accomplishment achieved with pride. An avid reader and a ‘whiz’ with crossword puzzles she also enjoyed many types of handicrafts. She enjoyed camping trips and travelling with the family. Numerous ‘ski-ins’ and fishing derbies were hosted at the country home, namely “The Shuzbutt Inn.” Irma was predeceased by her parents, Gottlib and Wanda Litke and by her brother Adolf, brother-in-law, Laurence Granger. Left to cherish her memory are: husband, Douglas, her daughter Teresa (Rob), grandchildren: Jason (Erin), Jenna, Julia and their families; step-sons: Delwin, Gordon, Tim and their families; brother, Hugo (Iris), sister- in-law Joyce; sister, Violet (Gerhard) Kriger, sister Margaret Granger, numerous nieces and nephews. Irma’s life was devoted to raising her family. Being a good parent and homemaker took priority in her life. Sadly, the last years she suffered with illness. Her faith was strong and she was ready to meet her maker and to be re-united with her Mom and Dad and her brother. We have loved you deeply and will miss you greatly. A private funeral service for Irma was held at Rae’s Funeral Chapel, Shoal Lake. Interment followed at The Bend Cemetery, Strathclair. Pallbearers were her sons: Gordon, Tim, grandsons: Jason, Bradley, Quinton and Parker. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Health Centre. Rae’s Funeral Service of Shoal Lake was in care of the arrangements.
