OLIVER: Reginald Lloyd Peacefully passed away at the Hamiota District Health Centre on July 6th, 2012. Lloyd was born on February 25th, 1923 to Reginald and Lilian Oliver of Miniota, MB. Lloyd received all his formal education at Miniota School. In 1940 he answered the call of duty and enlisted in the Canadian Army, fighting in Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. After the war Lloyd returned home to Miniota and started farming. In 1951 he married Beth Lorimer of Pope Manitoba and were later blessed with seven children. In the following years Lloyds carpentry and plumbing skills earned him the nickname Mr Fix it as he quickly became the handyman of Miniota. When Lloyd retired from full time Farming in 1978 he and Beth enjoyed travelling the globe, from Mexico to the Netherlands and all over North America. Lloyds new career soon became being an advisor to the next generation on the family farm, craftsman and grandfather. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and community member. Family and friend gathered July 11th at the Miniota Hall in a celebration of a life well lived. Pallbearers were 6 grandsons: Dallas Oliver, Nicholas Croft, Jordan Moffatt, Ted Oliver, Travis Oliver and Michael Croft. Internment followed at the Miniota Cemetery and a reception followed at the Miniota Hall. Lloyd is survived by his children: sons Dennis (Beth), Brian (Mary-Jean), Darcy, daughters, Julia (Bryan) Schettler, Betty (Paul) Croft, sisters Ruth (Charles) Pike and Shirley Oliver, and numerous grandchildren. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Beth, his parents Reg and Lilian Oliver, sons Ted Oliver and Paul Oliver and grandson Tyler Oliver.
