MITCHELL: Edna Blanche Mitchell (nee Page) of Riverheights Terrace and formerly of the Beresford District passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born at Beresford, Manitoba on April 4, 1917, Edna grew up on the family farm and attended school at Beresford. Following her graduation, Edna worked as a receptionist at the YWCA. She married Barclay Mitchell in 1942. They farmed together in the Beresford and Minto Districts. In 1970, they moved to Brandon and she then began working in fabric shops. For many years, she was an active member of the UCW in addition to teaching Sunday school. In 2002, Edna moved to Riverheights Terrace where she enjoyed her life there until she was hospitalized in January of this year. She was and avid gardener, enjoyed sewing, and needle point as well as sports. Edna is survived by daughter Linda (Bob) Smith of Killarney, MB; son Andy (Sue) Mitchell of Regina, SK; two granddaughters, Kim Mitchell of Fort Qu'Appelle, SK and Jennifer (Donovon) Harsch of Chamberlain, SK; two great granddaughters, Paige and Kelsey as well as sister-in-law Myrtle Page and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Barclay Mitchell; brothers, John, Vernon (Clara), Victor, Fred, Courtenay and George Page and sisters Audrey Page and Alma (Alf) Gardner. Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel, Brandon on Monday, July 16, 2012. Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood of Central United Church officiated. Interment took place at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
