PARKER: Elizabeth (June) Parker Born June 25, 1924 in Regina Saskatchewan, passed quietly in Brandon Manitoba August 16, 2012. June’s early years were spent in Regina and Scotland with summers in Banff. June attended University of Manitoba and later completed nursing training in England. Junes education and employment included England (Leeds, London and York), Scotland (Edinburgh), France (Grostenquin), Germany, Canada and the USA (Detroit). June served in both the Navy and the RCAF. June was assigned to radar and tracked Japanese balloon bombs during WWII. As a trained Midwife and Nurse, June entered Flight Nursing and earned her wings in Texas. June retired to Ottawa, a city she loved. June was an avid traveller whose destinations included France, China, Israel, Egypt, Turkey and Alaska. In her years in the Military, June fostered lifelong friendships; most special were Dr. Mervin and Ann (Eve) Connery of Napanee. June loved to paint and collect art. She was an avid swimmer and swam daily into her 80’s. She loved animals and was devoted to her cats. She was exceedingly generous with numerous charities. June was an intelligent witty individual who was never reticent to share her opinions. June held true to her beliefs. She will be missed. June was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Samuel, her sister Catherine and her two brothers Samuel and Richard. June is survived by her nephew David Parker (Sharon), nieces Hellen Burnell (Ken) and Susan Parker (Bill), and sister-in-law Nora Parker. Following cremation, June will be interned in a private ceremony at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.
