BIRCH: The death of Cecil Birch, of Brandon, occurred on September 4, 2012 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born on November 29, 1919, Cecil played hockey in his younger years. He completed grade 9 and went to technical school to become an automobile mechanic. Cecil worked at Canadian Motors for 45 years. Cecil enjoyed working with his hands, he built his own home, and his best friend helped him build a motor home. In return they built a fifth wheel for his friend. Cec enjoyed camping especially at Clear Lake as well as travelling in the motor home. He was a life member of the Brandon Lodge No. 19, G.R.M. A.F. and A.M. Cecil is survived by: his son Barry (Barbara); daughter Barbara (Frank) Vic; grandsons David (Catherine), Robert (Maura); great granddaughter Emily; great grandsons Shaughn and Marshall; brother Douglas and his son Phylp (Sandra) and Les' son John and family as well as numerous nieces and nephews on Cec and Edith's side of the family. He was predeceased by his wife Edith (2001); parents Harry and Annie; siblings Les and Marion as well as in-laws Bill and Alice Jackson. The Ceremony to Celebrate Cecil's life was held at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, on Friday, September 7, 2012. Arlene Robertson officiated. Interment was in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, donations in memory of Cecil may be made to a charity of choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
