DONOGH: On a beautiful September morning, as the sun was rising, comfortably, peacefully, our beloved Mum left us to join Daddy in Heaven. Alice Wilma Donogh (Archibald) was born in Plumas, MB on March 30, 1921, passed away at the Souris Personal Care Home on September 23rd 2012. She was the second youngest of eight children born to Harry Vernon and Elsie Alice Archibald (Peters). Wilma received her education at Plumas then went to Normal School and trained to be a teacher. Her first year of teaching was in a one room country school called Huntingdon where she met Jack Donogh. On July 12, 1944 they were married and then settled on their farm at Terence. For the next fourteen years they farmed and proceeded to raise their family. In the fall of 1959 Wilma took up full time teaching at Strathclair, with weekends and summers at the farm. She taught there until 1970 when she retired. In the fall of 1990 she and Jack moved to Souris. Until his passing in 1993 she devoted her time and energy to his care. In later years she enjoyed being busy walking with her friends, helping at the Thrift shop, bingo, crib, and lots of time with grand and great- grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her six children, Rae (Ken) McBurney; Sharon (Peter) Handley; Linda Dereniwski; Ross (Darlene); Darlene (Norm) Bourgeois; and John (Darcie); thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law Stew Buckler and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by husband Jack, grandson Jaydon, great grand-daughter Sydney McKinny, her parents, sisters Phyllis, Roma, Neta and Ruby, and brothers William, Eric and Roy. A service to celebrate Wilma’s life was held at St. Paul’s United Church, Souris on Thursday September 27th. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Wilma may be made to the Souris Personal Care Home Chapel Fund, or to Parkinson Society of Manitoba. Kowalchuk’s Funeral Home, Souris, in charge of arrangements.
