ALEX: Carl Ferdinand Alex was born on the family farm in the R.M. of Odanah on September 15, 1926. On the day of his birth there was 16 inches of snow on the ground. He grew up on the family farm and attended Hazelwood School. On November 18, 1961 Carl married Ann Baryla. They were blessed with 2 children, a daughter and son. Carl was predeceased by his wife Ann on December 1, 1997, his parents, Fred and Esther Alex, sister Goldie, brothers, Felix and Hilding, sister-in-laws, Irene, Therese and Mary Alex and brother-in-law, Jack Summers. Carl will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Scarlett, special grandson, Brandon of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and son Melvin (Leslie) of Rapid City, MB, sister Hildegarde Summers, brothers, Norman, Lloyd, and Marvin, sister-in-laws, Irene and Ruby Alex and nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Carl’s life was held in the Evangelical Covenant Church in Minnedosa, MB with interment following in the Smoland Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
