FARDOE: Emma Elizabeth Fardoe (nee Nyquist), beloved wife of the late Russel Fardoe, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Assiniboine Centre. Emma was born in Hilltop, Manitoba in the Rural Municipality of Clanwilliam on September 13, 1923 (a triplet daughter), youngest of seven daughters born to Axel and Ester Nyquist. She attended school at Hilltop and Minnedosa, Manitoba. She came to Brandon in 1942, and worked at Brandon General Hospital, then took a business course at Wheat City Business College in 1943. After graduating from the College she worked at Western Grocers Wholesale Company, and then went to work for the Federal Government for many years. While in Brandon she took an active part in First Baptist Church and other organizations. In 1953, she married Russel Fardoe of the South Brandon district where she took an active part in the church and community. Together they farmed in the community until 1970, during which time a son Ronald and a daughter Ronaele were born, also in 1953, nephew Brian Broomhall came to live with them. Together they raised him and he became like a son to them. In 1970, they moved to Brandon where she spent the next 19 years working for the Federal Government as a receptionist and clerk, retiring from Canada Employment Centre in 1989. On her return to Brandon, she attended and supported Trinity United Church. During her retirement, many enjoyable years were spent together with Russ RVing in the Prairie Provinces, but mostly in the Provincial Parks. During these years she met and made many new friends. Emma leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Ronaele Fardoe; son Brian Broomhall (Darlene Kraemer), Carol Fleetham; nieces, nephews and many cousins. Also surviving are daughter-in-law Shari Sanderson and son-in-law Kent Sanderson. She was grandma to Vanessa Fardoe, Reed Sanderson, Brandie Broomhall and Leanne Broomhall, who were very dear to her. She was predeceased by her husband Russel Fardoe; son Ronald Fardoe; parents; two triplet sisters, Eva Nyquist in infancy and Lillie Broomhall; sisters Ivy Nyquist, Edna Magnell, Anna Wark and Hilma Birch; brothers-in-law Russell Birch, Herbert Magnell, Hayden Broomhall and Mack Wark. Ceremony to Celebrate Emma’s Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Wayne Sanderson will officiate. Flowers are gratefully declined.
