LAZENBY: Marguerite “Rete” Lazenby passed away at the Assiniboine Centre – Palliative Care Unit on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the age of 95 years. Born in Millwood, Manitoba on November 28, 1917, Rete worked for the Manitoba Telephone System for twenty-seven years in Russell, Manitoba where she was the Chief Telephone Operator. She lived most of her life in Foxwarren, Manitoba but in the late 1980s she moved to Elgin, Manitoba to live with her sister Venie. In 2000, they both moved to a condo in Brandon where she resided until her death. In her youth, Rete loved all sports and participated in fastball, hockey, tennis, skiing and curling. In her later years she enjoyed watching all sports on T.V. and was a true fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Elsie Lazenby, five brothers and two sisters. Rete leaves to mourn her passing nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will take place at a later date at the Foxwarren Cemetery.
