BLACK: Doreen Black (Heron) was and always will be in our hearts. She passed away peacefully with all her children at her side on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Valleyview Care Centre. Left to cherish her memory is her children: daughter Heather (Vern Bilawchuk), son Duncan, son Bradley (Loretta); sisters Margaret Towriss, Gladys Towriss; sisters-in-law Anne Heron, Winnie Black, Jean (Murray) Cochrane and many nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Donald Black; mother and father Matthew and Margaret Heron; brothers Edward (May), Reginald (Mary), Alvin; sisters Hazel (Henry) Herman, Elva (Karl) Wilde; father-in-law Alfred (Ella) Black; brothers- in-law Lew Towriss, Bill Towriss and Jack Black. Doreen was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on April 16, 1934 and then moved to Marquis, Saskatchewan at a young age where she went to school. She graduated from Moose Jaw Union Hospital as a registered nurse in 1956. It was during her nursing career she met the love of her life Donald and they were married in 1970. She took great pride in raising her family and was very involved in the Shiloh community and the Shiloh church. Her interests included curling, travelling, quilting, scrapbooking and baking for the Harding Fair. The Funeral Service to Celebrate Doreens Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doreen may be made to the Shiloh Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, c/o Anna Tolton, Box 39, Kenton, Manitoba, R0M 0Z0.
